Acronym for "virtual router redundancy protocol".

Acronym for "virtual router redundancy protocol". A VRRP router has an IP address (like any router.) When it is connected to a second VRRP router (in redundancy), the group of two routers is identified by a single virtual IP address. The data does not question the router in operation, it connects directly to the virtual IP. It's the VRRP protocol which manages the router actively and passively at the same time.
