Capacity management

Process responsible for ensuring that the capacity of IT services and infrastructure can meet agreed capacity and performance requirements in a cost-effective and timely manner. Capacity management takes into account all the resources needed to provide an IT service. and is involved in meeting the present and future needs of the business in terms of capacity and performance. Capacity management includes three sub-processes: Business Capacity Management, Service Capacity Management and Component Capacity Management. (Source ITIL 2011)
